Earlier this week I did an interview for BBC World Service’s ‘One Planet’ programme, which you can now hear at their website here or download the podcast here. A very enjoyable experience, it is not every day that the BBC buys you soup and pays for it in Totnes Pounds!
…which according to my trusty Babelfish means “The Transition Towns movement – cities and humans in the change”, or something. Anyway, here’s a great short film for German speakers out there, featuring Brixton, Totnes and a Transition Training somewhere… but sufficiently understandable to be a very interesting way for non-German speakers to pass 8 minutes. Congratulations also to Transition Town Lewes for making the Independent on Sunday magazine this weekend.
As readers of my Twitterfeed will know (my workload at the moment means that there is probably more happening there than here at the moment) I did an interview yesterday on BBC Radio Devon’s ‘Interactive Lunch’ with David FitzGerald. Here’s a great talk by Davie Philip, long-standing master-networker, Transition Ireland Network catalyst and one man catalyst for change, speaking at day two of The New Emergency Conference: Managing Risk and Building Resilience in a Resource Constrained World, held in Dublin last summer by FEASTA. Excellent.

The need for broad community involvement is frequently recognised by TT groups, and is certainly advocated by the fonder of the movement. But many TTs struggle to identify and work with existing community organisations to forward the process of meeting the global challenges of climate change and peak oil. One TT group in Mid Wales proceeded from the outset to foster this collaboration and work with and through other organistions. In this interview, Dave Prescott tells the story of Transition Hay on Wye.
