An Evolving Exploration into the Head, Heart and Hands of Energy Descent
Transition Culture has moved
I no longer blog on this site. You can now find me, my general blogs, and the work I am doing researching my forthcoming book on imagination, on my new blog.
For the past year, Catrina Pickering has been Transition Network’s diversity person, developing trainings networks and insights around Transition and how initiatives might better embed diversity and inclusion in their work. Sadly, the funding for her post recently came to an end, but before she moved on, we asked her to distil her learnings and accumulated wisdom into a guide for Transition initiatives. So, hot off the press, here it is, your fantastic, free, 25 page guide to embedding diversity and inclusion in your Transition initiative or community project. Pass it around, and do let us know what you think.
I have had the great pleasure over the past few months to work with Susana Martinez and Emilio Mula to create a new short film about oral history and Transition. It emerged from the oral histories we did in preparing the Totnes EDAP, interviewing some of those people in more depth. The resultant film, premiered on Thursday night in Totnes, is one I very much hope you enjoy.
Things are moving along well with ‘The Transition Companion: making your community more resilient in uncertain times’ which is due to be published in early October. We are currently doing the fine editing and sorting out all the pictures. As part of the run-up to the publishing, Green Books have produced what’s called a ‘blad’ (“Book Layout And Design”), which gives a taste of the layout, style and contents in a little 16 page booklet. You can download it as a pdf here. A free printed copy of the blad will be given to everyone who attends this weekend’s Transition Network conference in Liverpool. We think it’s going to be gorgeous, and is in a quite different style from the previous Transition books. You can keep up to speed with developments either here or over at Green Books’ website. We are currently planning a few launch events for the book… if you have any ideas for one, do get in touch…
