I was clearing out a cupboard the other day and found a dusty pile of old VHS video cassettes. On closer inspection, it turns out that among various odd bits and bobs, were two old programmes I thought you might find interesting. Thanks to Alex Munslow for uploading them onto YouTube for me. Today’s film appeared on Ireland’s RTE television in July 2005, and was filmed the day before the Fuelling the Future conference.

Yesterday I showed you the film produced from the talk I gave via video conference to Tallinn in Estonia as part of the ‘Life After Capitalism’ series. Part of the series featured a web-forum, where people were invited to post ‘reflections’ on what they had seen or experienced during the series of talks. When I was asked to be part of the ‘Life After Capitalism’ series of lectures at the Von Krahl Theatre in Tallinn in Estonia, which brought together activists and artists, I discovered the most wonderful technology, video conferencing, thanks to the facilities at nearby Dartington.

Ben Brangwyn and Duncan Law cutting the cake at the Brixton Unleashing.
Although this post comes a bit late, I was waiting for all of its ingredients to fall into place, which they now have, so here it is. A couple of weeks ago, two big Unleashings took place, which offered inspiring examples to other places planning theirs. I was booked to speak at both of them, but I was unfortunately unwell with some unknown horrible lurgy which meant Ben Brangwyn ably stepped in at the last minute and went in my place. Reports soon started filtering back from both events which communicated how each event uniquely embodied the concept of an Unleashing being a dynamic evening which marks the start of an historic process.
