Announcing the Italian edition of ‘The Transition Handbook’

I was delighted to hear today that the Italian edition of The Transition Handbook, “Il Manuale Practico della Transizione”, has arrived and is now in print.  Regular readers will know that I spent a few years living in Italy earlier in my life, and have a continued affection for the place.  Cristiano Bottone, one of the initiators of Transition in Italy, wrote to tell me and asked me “to send us a few lines to present the book to Italian readers”.  Allora, ciao tutti…..

Mi dà il grande piacere per per dare il benvenuto a nel mondo “Il Manuale Practico della Transizione”.  Mi sembra una bella edizione.  Per me è incredibile vedere tutto il grande lavoro che state facendo.  Grazie per tutto quello che fatte, sia in Transizione Italia o nelle vostre iniziative dei singoli.  Quando ho vissuto in Italia, profondamente sono stato impressionato dalla gente, dalla coltura e dalla resilienza restante che il paese ancora ha avuto.  Come dappertutto, quella resilienza è stata corrosa mentre abbiamo sviluppato una società basata sempre più sui combustibili fossili.

Ora abbiamo un’occasione storica ripensare come funzioniamo come società, dovuto le sfide del cambiamento di punta di clima e dell ‘peak petrolio’.  Non deve essere una crisi, che cosa potremmo generare nel posto dell’Età di Olio potremmo essere preferibile incredibile e e lontano.  Spero che questo libro sia utile stia sostenendo la bella Italia di aiuto e del lavoro nella relativa Transizione. I miei ringraziamenti più profondi a tutto che contribuisca ad introdurre questa traduzione italiana nel mondo”.

You may, hopefully, by this stage be deeply impressed by the flow and beauty of my Italian.  When I lived there I did speak it fluently, but now it is deeply rusty, so I have been helped hugely (well, entirely) by the wonderful Babelfish, which allows anyone to translate anything into anything.  What a marvel.   You can order copies of the book here.
