I appreciate the above disitation and comments, but have no knowledge of the author.
I have an email address and a phone number if you feel a requirement for more information my door is always open.
Aquatic ecology is a huge subject matter and for the lay person may appear to be an overwhelming subject.
As is made clear by your comments and I agree that our freshwater resources have been under-utilised, largely ignored and heavily polluted. To change and reverse this practice and the mind-set that has supported modern agriculture, is however in some respects an attack on modern intensive agriculture and all the polital and financial structures that support this very ecologically damaging food production system. These are well entrenched agricultural institutions which are extremely hard to breakdown for an individual ecologist. Demonstrating new systems is much better than talking about them.

The natural aquatic organisms that make up the freshwater food chain will show significant variations in all habitats.
Developing localise food chains from the natural resources that already exist will identify in your own freshwater supply the best diection to follow as far as ecological aquaculture systems are concerned.
Good evaluations of your own particular freshwater resources will be the key to your potential production systems, these evaluations will be the best indicators to the design of your individual ecological aquaculture syatem.
Once the enhancement techniques of this ecological system are understood then fish may no longer be yout most important aquaculture product.
Ecological aquaculture does not have to focus on fish production and this should be well understood.
This book has taken thirty years to write owing to the complexity of the subject matter. I suggest that you make contact with Laurence Hutchinson so that you can set up an aquaculture system as the subject matter is hardly likely to be understood immeadiately. The book is fine and is not intended as the golden bullet, its readers are intended to contact its source for true clarification, books have no way of defending themselves so why attack them.
