Please fill out this quick survey to help us to help you evaluate your Transition impact
One of the key Ingredients of Transition is ‘Measurement‘, which stresses the value of documenting what your Transition initiative is doing so as to build some kind of evidence base that you are having an impact. It need not be a detailed research project, it can be as simple as gathering feedback after events, or keeping a record of how many people came. Transition Network, Low Carbon Communities Network and some academic researchers have come together to look at how best to support groups wanting to evaluate the impact they are having. The first stage is that we’d be really grateful if you could fill in this questionnaire (should only take about 10 minutes). It will help us to understand which evaluation methods that would be useful to you, and which methods you might already be using. The results will be used to inform the development of evaluation and monitoring resources and a funding application to develop a longer term project on evaluation and monitoring. Closing date is Monday 13th August. Thanks!

It is really good to see the Transition Movement moving in this direction as it is way overdue. I have worked in a funding organisation and the third sector and evaluation and demonstrating impact are becoming essential elements. This is to be welcomed; if you claim to be responding to a need then you should be able to demonstrate that you are actually doing something to address that need.
Sadly I am no longer actively involved in my local Transition Initiative. If there was a greater emphasis on justifying what we were doing and proving that we were truly representative of our community then, who knows I may have still been involved.
Thinking you are doing the right thing is not good enough, it is vital you prove that and keep doing so.
Good luck with this important move.
