Steph - Great news that you will be coming to Taunton on 23 Aug (a way off yet!) and I'll encourage the TA folk to come along too. The walk along the canal from Bridgwater to Taunton is wonderful. I'll plan to join you with the children around Creech St Michael and walk into Taunton from there. Let me find out more, nearer the time, from TTT. Good luck on your adventures!

Donna
I would LOVE to come to Athelney but I have studied my route and think it might be just that bit too far off as I shall walk from Glastonbury to Bridgewater on the 23rd Aug and am booked to be in Taunton on the 24th for a little gathering. (Am in touch with Fran, Chrisse & Vic)
Is there any way the 2 groups can hook up - it'd be great to hear stories of Athelney as well...
Plans are to walk the canal walk into Taunton if any fancy joining in...?

Hello Steph. Pleased to 'meet' you. Yes, I read all about your walk earlier this month - and saw your route and wondered whether you had any plans to drop by!

Let me speak to the Transition Taunton leads (have you already spoken to someone?) to see what can be arranged to take advantage of your presence ;-) I'll also speak to my 'muller' group, Transition Athelney (8 miles from Taunton in the beautiful Somerset Levels countryside, in case we can support you too (Taunton's perhaps bigger and has a bit more going on - but Athelney is my local group and I'm keen to support them obviously).

Re training - would love to join you but am doing my 2 day transition training the following weekend with Nick Osborne and can't afford 2 weekends out from the family.

Best of luck with your fantastic walk!
Cheers.

Hi Rob. Great post and really interesting. I'm happy to read that you are undertaking educational initiatives in Totnes - and especially glad to read of successes both at primary and secondary level. Will you also ensure that this story (and others similar) is captured and shared via the new Transition Network site (where there's space for Case Studies - though only a few appear at the moment)? We should do all we can to share these lessons and examples - in a format that is searchable. I believe that the Transition Network site will enable this.

I don't have an education background myself, but am very interested in this topic locally (Somerset, Taunton environs) - in particular the links between food and education in the primary sector. I'll keep an eye on this topic! Cheers.
