I'd like to apply for this, but not 3-4 days a week for 2-3 months, but for 2-3 days a week for 2-3 years!

I've been meaning to write a long e-mail to that effect for a while now, hopefully I'll find the time soon...

Hi Emma,
Unfortunately I think it is necessary. I've been involved in a handful of remotely managed projects and it is never as efficient or as successful as a good close interactive team. It is certainly possible for technologists, especially software developers and graphics people to work somewhat remotely. However I think project management is as much about people as technology, and you need to be able to see the 'shop floor' so to speak to get it done well.

I am wondering if it is necessary to commute Mark? Do you think it is possible to use collaborative web technologies and video conferencing to manage this project remotely?

You've nearly convinced my to abandon the field for a couple of months and apply for the job. All I have to do is work out a low carbon commute from Jersey.
