This is a bit off topic but...

Rob Weston: love what you're doing with http://www.thenewreclaimers.com/ (is that a google sites site btw?)

My housing co-op just got http://www.ecointeriors-uk.com/kitchens.html and we're pretty happy with our new eco-bling, but I almost wish we'd seen your company before and we gone for reclaimed stuff too :)

Rob, This is now getting spooky. I've spent most of today working on Open Source approaches to appropriate social and eco-enterprises. Then we have ITV filming a LETS documentary (this afternoon) at Bloomfield House and they get v excited when I explain and suggest a programme on TT; then I receive a succession of emails about helping out with a couple of other TT matters; finally this, just before midnight. What a day. To top it all, a realisation: no sooner have you and I re-established contact (what is it - fifteen, twenty years since we worked on the Permaculture Magazine articles?) than the opportunity to work together once more jumps up. Fantastic Next Step - congratulations on this inspired move - I'll get down to seeing if there's any little thing I can do to help the process unfold. Love and chuckles, Rob Weston

I'm currently involved in a research project linked to people's real experiences of collaboration. I'm planning to share some of the emerging themes on the transition chat session on 10th November - join if you're able to.
Tipping Points, Black Swans, and Surfing the edge of chaos - there are some striking links beginning to surface amongst some of the more recent books that are spreading into the collective psyche . And, as the existing (unsustainable) pattern begins to implode, the possibility of something generative and healthy emerging is also increasing (but it's not inevitable as a different pattern that is even worse could also take hold). Let's keep alert, and experimenting, and collaborating for good.

Wonderful to see this coming to fruition! Hopefully we can do the same with the Transition Timeline too.

I'm also involved with another exciting adventure in 'WeThink' called Superstruct. This is a new massively-multiplayer online game, but unlike 'I Love Bees' it's explicitly designed to harness the collective genius out there to addressing the 'superthreats' the world may be grappling with in 2019.

It's been organised by the Institute for the Future and I'll be guiding the work on the 'Power Struggle' superthreat (AKA peak oil) as one of the five game-leaders.

The game starts on Monday and runs for six weeks, but you can already get involved at the Superstruct site. It would be great to have some more company in bringing a Transition perspective to the visions of 2019 - I'm worried that there'll be an awful lot of techno-fixation out there!

Hi Rob,

Your summary of Leadbeater's book reminds me a lot of Wikinomics, which I've just finished. Good stuff.

I'm looking forward to editing the wiki. Should be a good place to actually start compiling and ultimately testing energy descent plans. I'll suggest possible overlaps with AMEE's wiki where relevant.

Cheers,

Jamie

Hi Rob,

It makes me very happy to see this happening - thanks so much for sharing your work with the world :)

Just 2 things:

you've missed the r in Appropedia above where it says "we've join forces with Appopedia".

"We-Make", as you put it, is actually already happening in really exciting ways.

Most inspirationally has got to be Factor E Farm near Kansas City. They are designing and building open source machines for building a village and doing very well indeed (having already built their own Compressed Earth Brick machine and tractor!)

Check them out here:

See also:

And check out this Open Source self-replicating 3D Printer!

And do watch this great video:

Enjoy!

Big smiles,
