I feel that the Lewes pound is just a publicity stunt. I don’t think that the pound will increase Lewes trade. It seems to me that Lewes is getting too big for its boots trying to cut itself off from everybody else in some sort of Lewes ‘cult.’ If Lewes really wanted to make a difference then why doesn’t it start taking action at things such as climate change instead of cutting down trees to make phoney monopoly money! Although maybe introducing a new currency will save Lewes from the Credit Crunch especially those making profits from it on eBay.

I attended the launch myself although I found it fairly easy to get to sleep afterwards, I almost nodded off during it in fact.

The Lewes pound has already been highly successful in generating local wealth. Are there any that haven't been sold on eBay yet?

We just got back after visiting Lewes for two weeks and staying with our dear friend a recent resident. We fell in love with Lewes and Sussex, a very civilized and beautiful environment We live in New York City and we love it but if Obama loses the election we too may become residents.
