I can't be the only person who remembers the oil crisis of 1973 (I was working on a farm in Lincolnshire at the time) and being issued with petrol rationing vouchers - which in the end we never used. I think then petrol was 44p a gallon(?). I wish I'd kept those ration tickets! Anyone else remember this and have more details? The government obviously felt we were close to the precipice then.

Also take a look at the website for the exhibition, which has highlights of the book's contents and presents the entire section of Harriet Russell's illustrations in the book:

Excellent review, I wish I could have seen the exhibit - sounds like it would have been very informative. Wondering if this current crisis will have a similar result as the former. Do you think we will really see a flourishing of creativity? I just hope people stop driving their giant F150s to the mall and back.
