		<description>&lt;p&gt;Having  moved from the U.K. to New Zealand in 1975 in anticipation of problems of overpopulation, I would very much like to know how many people the U.K. could support without an energy subsidy from fossil fuels - in other words, the long term carrying capacity without &#039;ghost acres&#039; (using resources from other countries. In other words, does Peak Oil pose a threat to survival in the U.K. rather than merely a threat to &#039;standard of living&#039;?&lt;/p&gt;
