Life After Oil Course – Discounted and Subsidised Places Available!
**Please see the end of this piece for new information about bursuries of 90% of the course fee for people living in the South West of England**. In a couple of weeks a wonderful course takes place at [Schumacher College](http://www.schumachercollege.org.uk”Schumacher”) here in Devon. I have [written about it here before](http://www.transitionculture.org/?p=442″LAO”), the teachers for the course are Richard Heinberg, Michael Meacher, Ron Oxburgh, David Fleming and myself. The organisers have decided to offer locals a reduced price of £950 (which) is a £250 discount, over 20 per cent reduction. This price is on a non-residential basis but includes all meals and participation in work groups. Schumacher College also offers bursaries on some places, so do get in touch with them if you would like to participate. This will be a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in the arguments about peak oil and in the thinking about what we do about it. Contact Schumacher to find out more. **Update 11th October 2006**. Just had this email from Schumacher College…. “As Schumacher College’s contribution to helping the Southwest towards a more sustainable energy future, we are reviving our Southwest Scholarship scheme for the Life After Oil course. A limited number of scholarships covering 90% of course fees will be available to people living in the Southwest (Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Avon) who can demonstrate that they will be able to use what they learn on the course for the benefit of their wider community. Applicants should send a regular course application form along with a statement of how the course will help them in the work they do and a couple of recommendation letters. Deadline for applications: October 25″.
